The culture and creative sector play a crucial role in Northumberland’s economy, and Berwick-upon-Tweed is at the heart of this creative movement. As part of the ambitious Culture and Creative Zone (CCZ) initiative, funded by £1.5 million from the North East Combined Authority, Northumberland County Council is investing in Berwick’s creative future.

What are we looking for?

We are seeking a creative-led business or partnership to develop and deliver a peer-to-peer training programme for creatives living and working in Berwick. This programme will empower local artists, makers, performers, writers, and creative professionals to share knowledge, develop their skills, and build a thriving creative economy.

This initiative aims to:

  • Support the professional and business development of Berwick creatives.

  • Provide opportunities for knowledge-sharing and collaboration.

  • Create jobs and expand economic opportunities within the local creative sector.

  • Establish a strong, sustainable training framework for the future.

Who should apply?

We invite applications from creative businesses or partnerships with expertise in working with artists and delivering high-quality training and events. The ideal applicant will have:

  • Strong knowledge of the creative and cultural sector, particularly outside metropolitan cities.

  • Experience in developing and managing training programmes.

  • A background in project management, marketing, and evaluation.

  • A commitment to inclusivity and diversity in creative practice.

 Summary of work

The successful applicant will:

  • Develop and deliver a peer-to-peer training programme.

  • Organise and market workshops and talks for Berwick creatives.

  • Appoint a Coordinator to oversee activities.

  • Provide monitoring reports demonstrating impact. 

A total budget of £36,000 (inclusive of VAT) is allocated for this project.
